Angels and Demons

I went at the beginning of the week to see this.

It was quite good, although I found it quite far-fetched and hard to believe. It's based on a novel, and personally, I feel one might be able to appreciate the story more by reading the book. A lot was said about the other film, The DaVinci Code; many people preferred the book to the film too.

Anyhow, as I had not read the book, I was not aware of the details of the plot, I still enjoyed the movie, but I didn't think it was awesome.

As I said before, I found it hard to believe, but there was some good twists in the story which kept you guessing.

Busy week coming up, not sure If I will be able to see a film this week...

Star Trek

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous! And, I am not even a "Trekkie!" I really enjoyed this film; appears film makers are going back the beginnings, and are successful at it. Take Batman Begins for example, or even X Men Origins, more recently.

This was a superb story, characters were good. The outset started with a BANG and was quite emotional, and it was from this excellent start that the story propelled and kept me enticed!

Busy week this week, not sure I will get much watched. There's a chance I might go to the Flicks again this week, as I might not get to gp next week - hopefully to watch the highly anticipated, Angels and Demons! Let's see!

X Men Origins : Wolverine

My trip to the cinema this week was to see this fabulous movie. I enjoyed this the most out of all the X Men movies. It got down to the nitty gritty of how it all came about, circling around one of the main characters, Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman.

I had high expectations of this, and I was not disappointed. This is by far one of the best action films so far this year.

I was hoping it would not entail too much detail/story, but infact was very easy to follow. Length of film was just right and kept me engaged, and got my attention from the very start. These are a good ingredient to action films!

I have seen a lot over the past few days, might just give my eyes a rest for the weekend!

Crossing Over

Wow - I cannot believe this was just a limited release. Yes, maybe it was just a drama, but it did have me on the edge of my seat sometimes. As always, great to see Harrison Ford in a movie. It also co-stars Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd and a few other well known faces. Apparently Sean Penn was in the movie too, but then asked for his scenes to be cut because of it being a little controversial.

It was very similar to Crash; some people might think this to be just another patriotic USA film, but I thought it portrayed real life.

I recommend watching this film as there are lots of little plots, and it all interlinks in the end. I quite like those!

Mirrors

Looks like I am on fire tonight! 2nd movie, back-to-back. This one was on the list to watch for such a long time.

This was good, but I feel could have been better. The tension was gripping, and Kiefer Sutherland came across as convincing. His wife, played by Paula Patton gave a good supporting performance.

There were a few flaws but I still thought it was OK. The ending was quite unexpected; I was a little miffed by it to be honest-how did he end up in the mirror world if all of them got destroyed? Just my 2 cents...

Just might have a break from it all tomorrow, lets see, although I quite fancy the new Harrison Ford movie, Crossing Over. If not, then will next update you once I've been to the cinema this week to watch Wolverine.

Let The Right One In

Was not too sure about this film, but gave it a go due to a friend's recommendation.

I am not really into vampire movie's, but this was one with a difference. I think that because again it was in a foreign language, that it was unique.

The child actors that were in this one were very good indeed, better than the best of Hollywood.

Although Vampires are a myth, the way it was portrayed seemed very realistic and true to life.

If you want to watch a Vampire flick with a difference, then watch this!

Martyrs

Dear God! What a film. This was much more than a "Gorefest". So many interpretations could be made of the ending. This is not just another "Saw" film. It was much more emotionally charged, and had some meaning to it. This needs to be watched at Midnight (Like I did) for the full effects!

It could be slightly confusing for some, but I was able to follow it without difficulty (experience!)

I am finding it hard to write about without giving it away, but if you can stomach the gore, it is definately one to watch. The fact that it was in a foreign language (French) gives it more of an edge and thus is not so stereotyped (Hostel, Saw, etc).

Thumbs up!

Death Note: The Last Name

This was a follow-up to the 2006 movie, Death Note.

It was good to see the finale to this story. It was well planned and was fascinating to watch right til the end. I am now quite curious as to what is going to happen in the spin-off, L : Change The World. "L" is the name of the detective who appears to have died at the end of this film; I wonder how he is going to brought back to life?

If you haven't seen this, do watch both Death Note films, they are quite unique and not something you would have seen before!

Next up, Martyrs; a gory French flick!

Fast And Furious

As promised, updated this weekend! Saw this yesterday. This was an interquel, set between the 2nd and 3rd films. It was quite interesting, and much more of a story was made about it.

The opening action sequence was quite good, and sets the pace. It was enjoyable and there are further heart-racing, adrenaline-pumping chases as the movie goes on.

I can see there being more films made, but not entirely sure how, as I cannot rememeber how the 3rd one finished!

Next up is the sequel to Death Note, called Death Note: The Last Note
