Big Hero 6 is hands down one of the best animated films I've ever seen and maybe the best non-Pixar film since The Lion King. The realism in the animation, while not losing the charm associated with the genre, is stunning, the humanity and emotion in the film is superior to most live action films you'll see, and the story is fresh and entertaining. It combines humor with sadness with action to make for an exciting viewing experience. They also make you absolutely love Baymax, the big, white, puffy looking marsh mellow robot in all the advertisements. Overall, this movie is suitable for people of all ages, genders, cultural backgrounds, etc. Jump into San Fransokyo and get ready for a great film.

Tommorrowland
I have a problem. The pacing is incredibly slow. Nothing really ever actually happens. It's just 'there' the whole time and is quite remarkably boring at times. It's quite idiotic in its moral. Yes the world is going to hell blablabla but, even if aimed at 6 year olds, there are better & more subtle ways to get the point across. So yes, very disappointed. Acting was good; visuals were nice but, at the end of the day, I was pretty bored for 2+ hours.

The Age of Adaline
I have been looking forward to this film because of the story line. There are so many things to like about it - the flashbacks are well done and so believable. The costumes are so fun to watch. I do not think I have seen Blake Lively act before and I was clearly entranced by her performance. She carries the film so well and is so quiet and well done. I liked the actors - Michaeil Haisman is believable. Harrison Ford did some amazing scenes! This story could have been presented in such a different manner - director tells is beautifully. I love the ending.

Piku
Not your bog-standard bollywood movie. Its a very real drama, with excellent acting from all. The whole team gel extremely well and provide a genuine story.
The main theme is about the health issues of one of the characters and the movie seems to dwell on this abit too much in my opinion.
Other than that, the story is light-hearted and I am sure many can relate to it.
Worth a watch.

Mad Max : Fury Road
Great film, so fast-paced it makes every other film out there look slow and old-fashioned. Charlize Theron is great, Tom Hardy is a bit wooden, but the stunts are really where the film shines. It's hard to think of a better action road movie. It has all the intensity and perversity of the MAD MAX and THE ROAD WARRIOR, but amped up to new heights of craziness.

Big Game
Big Game is a 90 minute bubblegum movie. At first the idea is quite good but within 20 minutes a lot of the script is rushed and a bit predictable. Sam Jackson seems to be in it for the pay packet and the cast just play the part.
Plot holes galore here but all films can't be classics. It plods along nicely with a few good moments but 1 or 2 scenes get a bit laboured and silly.

Fifty Shades of Grey
I think it's a major advantage in watching this film to have never read the books.
I was greatly surprised to find myself laughing early on-not at the movie itself, but at a particular moment in it that was intended to be funny. It was drawing me in, almost against my will. As it went on, I began liking the character of Anastasia. Christian may have been a little eye-rolling here and there, but I still bought into him. I get why some people are trashing this film-partly because the source material is absolute garbage-but it's actually a pretty interesting character study.

Divergent
Divergent is brought to life on the big screen from the director who brought us "Limitless" and "The Illusionist." Are we seeing something of similar essence with the "Hunger Games" series? Yes. However, my personal take was that the characters were more engaging and the plot was as well in this film. Shailene is excellent at the helm, and really brings forth a convincing portrayal of a heroine battling in a world where chaos and tragedy envelope the characters. Her graceful emergence from shy personality to dominance is done artfully and really speaks to her ability as an actress.

Blade Runner - The Final Cut
OK, I admit...the first time I watched this movie I hated it. I was 15 years old and had expected an action-packed sci-fi adventure. Blade Runner is not such a film. But I am grateful for this, for after maturing a bit and rewatching the latest Final Cut 23 years later, I discovered its greatness. It is not a traditional sci-fi movie, it's a touching drama about the value of life and the importance of making the most of what you've got. One of the most important themes in the film is the question of what is more valuable - humans without emotions, or machines with? The film gives no answer - it just opens our eyes and makes us aware that we should be grateful for being alive.
