Eat, Pray, Love

I finish October's viewings on a film I wasn't going to watch; purely just saw it because of the cinematography.

Its a story that stars Julia Roberts (who does a great job in smiling and shedding tears) who feels the need to escape after a break-up. She goes to some amazing places, learns how to cope with various issues, etc.

Nothing new in this Romcom and it did not fair so well at the box office either. It could have been so much more; with a better male lead in my opinion. I think Ms Roberts performs better if there is a chemistry going on throughout a movie. She can't handle one single-handedly in my opinion.

Saw 3D

Yes, its over! Named "The Final Chapter", this sees the climax of the last 7 years.

In my opinion the story is tied up and closed quite nicely. I know many who have slated the franchise, but it has raked in helluvalot of cash - it's business at the end of the day.

Plenty of scares; 3D giving a whole new dimension. The traps surely do come alive!

If you have seen the last 6, this is a must-watch!

I still can't believe its all over - there's always a chance I reckon.

The Human Centipede

Sickly film here - not quite upto the mark with A Serbian Film, but bad enough.

Gives you the creeps in the beginning, and is not really visually disturbing; but the things that are implied give chills.

The bad guy is really very bad, and plays the pivotal role. However, I did get sick of the constant wailing (clue) throughout, and once the plot was revealed, the effect wore off.

Definately one to watch if you like this sort of thriller.

6.5.

The Social Network

Who would have ever thought FACEBOOK would have you by the edge of your seat?

Well, this film does just that. You will be amazed as to how intriguing it really is. You don't have to be a facebook user to be impressed by this film.

It charts the incredible story of Mark Zuckerberg and his pals in this "rollercoaster ride."

Sure is a must-see movie.

One of the good ones this year; and what a good thing this is the 100th post of the year too :-)

A sweet 9 - I don't give many of those out!

Resident Evil Afterlife

Continuation of the saga, which is a spin-off of the popular video game.

This was made in 3D, but I saw the 2D version. Perhaps because of that the viewing pleasure wasn't so great.

To be honest, fed up of the mumbo-jumbo. The film brings nothing new, and is just a petty excuse to make money.

I shall not bother with the next one.

A 3 for trying...

Winter's Bone

Dull and depressing is the name of the game of this one.

I was a little disappointed by this; the reviews were so good - probably because it was so authentic and raw and actors made it seem like a real life situation. I found the story slow, and expected something to happen, but it didn't.

The producers marketed it as a thriller/mystery which was a bit unfair - should have been classed as a "drama."

I rate it a 6

Piranha

This is a film which you are going to like or really hate; for me it was the latter.

It was absolutely dire! I can't believe they made it into a 3D film! I thankfully only saw it in 2D and skipped through it pretty fast. The good cast is just a "crowd-puller."

Plenty of gore and girls and not much else!

4!

The Town

A really good IMDB score made me want to watch this, so I went to see it.

You can never be sure about Ben Affleck; I am of the opinion that the guy really cannot act. But actually, I was surprised for a change, this was one of his better performances.

The bad guys were bad and showed it!

The film was a little predictable, but all in all, it was a really good story and I enjoyed the action scenes especially.

A solid 7

Virsa

Average punjabi movie here; roles being played by pakistani and indian actors.

Nauman Ijaz and Gulshan Grover roles were the best in my opinion; I was not really interested in the love story of the youngsters.

Not bad, but failed to offer anything new - same old cliche stuff.

Devil

Latest offering from M Night Shayamalan in the first of the "Night Chronicles".

Based on it, It will be interesting to see the next projects that are to follow.

Surprisingly, the acting from the unknown actors is REALLY really good - that was the best thing in my opinion. Cinematography is fresh and vivid, and the story is not bad either. Few twists and jumps never did anyone any harm.

A solid 7 from me; especially after the last few MNS projects which have been rally poor!

Buried

Tense and claustrophobic thriller - the whole 90 minutes is spent "buried in the box" and it is quite remarkable how one's attention is just focussed on exactly the above. It's very intense and gripping!

How, what where and when is for you to find out - definately go watch this.

One of the best films of 2010 - I rate it a 9!
