Gamer

This was just OK i'm afraid.

I preferred the Crank films, Jason Statham has that little bit extra "charm" which Gerard Butler lacked.

All in all, It was a pretty predictable movie, but had some good action sequences. There were a few strange and quirky moments, but I didn't really find them "funny"!

On a different note, there are many more films to watch, but just not finding the time right now.

Hope to watch Surrogates this coming week. Will let you know asap about it.

Whiteout

Seems as though this one hasn't fared too well at the box office.

There are many holes in the plot and you are left to make assumptions on your own. There is a lack of effort on the part of the director and the action sequences were not filmed too well.

That said, there is some spectacular cinematography to check out.

Not a bad watch, but not great either!

District 9

Watch this film if you have a real interest in Aliens, etc.

I thought the special effects were very good. But there were certain parts of the story that didn't make sense and had quite a few flaws. The good thing about it was that it was presented in a documentary style.

It was enjoyable, but cannot understand how it managed to get into the top 50 films of all time (Source: IMDB).

If you are not into sci-fi, then this will not appeal to you.

Watch-out for a possible "District 10"!

Hurt Locker

Wanted to see this for Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes, but hey, guess what, they were only billed as guest appearances and were in it for just 3 minutes each!

This film was in a documentary style, portraying the life of a bomb squad in Baghdad. They are presented with various situations on a day to day basis.

The way it was filmed gave it a very real edge to it and it seemed very authentic.

Some could say it is a patriotic film (for the Americans) but I thought a good job was done by the remaining, relatively less well known actors!

Broken Embraces

Decided to give this one a try just for Penelope Cruz.

A little disappointed. Its been claimed as a "masterpiece"; i did not see it that way at all. Thought the film was very average. There was a flow of characters, in and out of the film without any explanation where they came from or who they were.

The love story didn't make sense to me either. First they loved each other then they stopped, to and fro - again, without reason.

To be honest, I could not understand how this film managed to break the record for the largest budget in spanish history!

GI Joe : The Rise Of Cobra

Yes - I am back! Have had a truly wonderful break, and I have lots of films lined up to watch and review for you!

I actually saw this on thge weekend (as I was sick last week) and I was quite surprised, took my daughter to watch it too.

I did not know too much about the comic, so the character and plot was quite new to me. There were some good action scenes, notably the "Paris Chase". Overall a good action film, one I think boys would like better.

Watch out for the sequel!
