The Other Guys

Pretty good, funny, slapstick fun, with an unlikely pairing of Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg. It was definately more of a "Will's" film though!

Few parts were silly, and there were a few time-wasting scenes in there too (especially the first 15-20 minutes). I think it was a little too long with that in.

If they dropped the opening couple of scenes, it would have been a much better movie.

Cameo's from Michael Keaton and Eva Mendes were good too!

Solid 7 from me.

Four Lions

Hilarious British movie here about 4 bumbling so-called terrorists.

A character in the movies describes them as "Mr Bean's", and they are just that!

The story needs to be taken with a pinch of salt and not seriously. If you do, you won't enjoy it! Its silly, but that is the whole point of it.

It also does add some reality to it as well. The guys in it are unknowns, but they acted the part and very well too!

Looking for a british comedy, then look no further!

1947 Earth

Yes, don't laugh, watching this film about 12 years late!

Always wanted to watch this, but just never find the right time, don't you hate it when that happens?!

It was an amazing and touching story. It was about the disturbance and killing during the partition of India. A disturbing event recalled in a beautiful fashion. So glad I watched it; albeit a little late!

A Serbian Film

Holy Sh*t is the only way to describe this terror of a film. I thought Martyrs was truly daring but this is one of the sickest and most brutal films I have EVER seen.

I must say the story is a great one; the first 45 minutes or so sets the scene. Things just go from bad to worse - it's very shocking. The SAW films are extremely mild comparing to this.

Don't watch it if you can't stomach it - it will play in your head like a bad nightmare over and over again...

Grown Ups

Watched this especially for Adam Sandler; unfortunately they seem to be getting worse and worse despite the pretty good cast!

Seems to be a decline in quality from him; the jokes just aren't that funny anymore and he is going into a stereotypical shell - there is just no variety and he plays the same roles over and over again. I can think of much funnier films than this; give it a miss!

Measly 4.5!

Salt

Little disappointed with wooden performances here. Good action film though, although the whole story line was slightly predictable; the twist was there, but I had put the jigsaw together before it was revealed!

Very far-fetching (which is what Angelina Jolie is!) and actually quite laughable in places.

However, was a good time-pass.

Below par slightly; 6.

Rajneeti

Explosive Bollywood political thriller directed by renowned director, Prakash Jha.

We have a superbly assembled cast here, with Katrina Kaif in her first serious role (for a change!) I hope she it taken a bit more seriously from now on.

Parts were slightly cliche and predictable, but nevertheless still very catchy and I was intrigued.

Particularly liked the part of Nana Patekar who I have not seen on the screen for a long time.

Scores a solid 7!

The Expendables

A movie full of heavyweights; Stallone, Willis, Arnie, Rourke, Lundgren - fabulous cast, shame about the storyline!

Action sequences were mind-blowing, as was the lovely Giselle Itie!

Stallone was back to his stereotypical best - I still like him even though he is so damn predictable!

Will give this a 7!

Knight and Day

A solid performance here by Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, chemistry between them was good.

Action sequences were good and attention catching, however, after 45 minutes when I realised what the plot was, it all became quite silly and predictable. I liked the different locations the filming took place - it kind of gave a new feel to the movie every few minutes and gave you something different to look at and concentrate on!

Still worth a watch though, a solid 7.

The Infidel

Funny capers here from Omid Djalili - was surprisingly good and modern and humorous!

I thought perhaps a little over the top at times, but then that is Omid for you!

Great laugh if you want a pick-up! Ethnic humour was good too, and he pulled off being a "pakistani-jewish" really well!

Raavan

Over-hyped bollywood flick here, starring husband and wife, Amitabh and Aishwarya Bachchan.

Was a modern Ramaiyan tale, good v evil. Very predictable, and Aishwarya's acting was horrible. Abhishek gave it his best shot, although for me it was the cinematography that really stood out.

Give it a miss unless you really want to see it. I did not find it very gripping at all...

Toy Story 3

Sorry for the delay in updates, things have been very hectic.

I saw this with my daughter at the cinema in 3D. Whilst the effects weren't spectacular, the film certainly was and we enjoyed it very much. You didn't really need to see parts 1 and 2 to figure out what was happening. The effects of the glasses were not really 3D, it just brought the picture to life a little - I did get fed up with the glasses after a while!

This should get the best animation award for next year - had everything, action, comedy and emotion. Thumbs up!
