Antichrist

Strange one this...

Was expecting this one to be really really shocking, but I think I was expecting it to be a lot worse. I heard reports that people had passed out in the cinema watching it.

It was not as bad as Martyrs which was a lot worse; it was a wierd movie having lots of different interpretations. It was supposed to be "Art" and "Poetic".

The two leads, infact, the only two people in the movie, Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg, played very draining roles. I actually got fed up of seeing them at the end of it all.

Watch it if you can stomach it!

The Proposal

This was a lovely romcom; a very unlikely pair, who had a really good chemistry onscreen. Yes I know Sandra Bullock is showing her age, but because the role was that of a mature woman, she played it really well in my opinion.

Touching in parts, this wins best film in this category so far this year. I did genuinely enjoy it although not a huge fan of this genre.

Bruno

Sorry for the lack of updates; been so busy with the upcoming trip - yes! I leave tomorrow! I cannot wait! Unfortunately, no posts from me for a good month or so.

so here we go; saw this a few weeks ago now. A gay friend of mine wanted to watch this, so decided to tag along with him. It was funny, and there were a few very silly parts and you could not help smirking. It didn't really make me burst out in laughter but shocked me and made me smile. You wil enjoy this if you liked that last one, "Borat".

The Human Contract

Just finished watching this...I am a really huge fan of Paz Vega. I think she is incredibly beautiful so I will be quite bias about this film! No, just kidding!

There were quite a few flaws In Jada Pinkett Smith's direcorial debut. I felt the film was a little overlong, and there was a time in the middle when nothing much was happening; the story was to-ing and fro-ing, lacking direction.

In the end it was just a simple story about relationships, love, rejection, pain. Nothing really out of the ordinary to be honest. 5/10.

Tokyo Sonata

On a roll today!

I saw this yesterday (yes, I am catching up!). It was superbly crafted. Very high score on IMDB. What was meant to be a very simple family story, turned into a fine drama - lots of attention to detail in the characters. I hadn't realised, in Japan, it is such a huge deal to lose your job and not tell the wife! It's like the most major embarrassment you can possibly be subjected to! You will understand once you watch this!

Great drama and interesting humorous perspectives, discretely intertwined in a story. There is no doubt this is a masterpiece. Don't miss it, you won't regret seeing it!

New York

Bollywood film at the cinema for a change!

Well, I decided to watch this as "Kambakkht Ishq" got slated and all in all seemed like a pretty silly movie. I was not in the mood to watch such a film and got a nice surprise when watching this.

It focuses on events after 9-11; not a film about 9-11 but more about America's Torture Tactics; i.e. Guantanamo Bay.

Acting performances were strong, especially Irfan Khan of Slumdog and Billu Barber fame as of late. He really is a very underrated actor - I think he is brilliant. As always Katrina Kaif is nice to look at and her Hindi is improving!

A sad ending, but an informative film. Watch this!

The Great Buck Howard

Yes, I have been a bit naughty not keeping this updated. Apologies for that!

I will write about this film that I saw back in May but forgot to update the blog.

This was a really enjoyable movie that would appeal to anyone. John Malkovich has really put in a very caprivating performance and you are glued to the film right from the beginning! It was also good to see the son of Tom Hanks, Colin Hanks in a main lead role for a change. He is quite talented and Tom Hanks also puts in a cameo.

It was funny and interesting, and you really "cared" about the characters, especially "Buck Howard!"
