Superb gripping film starring one of my favourite actors, Mr Denzel Washington. It grabs your attention right from the start, straight to the end. This is not just a post-apocalyptic tale, but is emotional and philosophical too.
There is a fantastic twist towards the end which makes you want to watch the whole movie again!
Good performances by Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis supporting. Expect to see Mila in a lot more roles in the future i'm sure. Similar film to the recent, The Road, but on a more grander and larger, meaningful scale. Please watch - you won't be disappointed!
I can only agree there Zee ... splendidly bleak, yet full of hope and inspiration, and love the twist at the conclusion ... it is kind of implied within the film as a whole, but it is still a surprise when you realize the fact as it is laid out to you ... there are threads of other films (Mad Max 2 & 3, The Road, and others, even a Japanese film is there - Baby Cart, only it's a book he's trying to protect, and not his son) ... but this movie really throws the horror of a Nuclear War to the fore, in the aftermath and the quest for survival, no matter what it takes, or how you achieve that end, as it displays how baser Instincts take over. It puts forward the reality that no man is immune to falling down towards a feral and selfish existence, unless he finds strength within to rise above this animalistic chaos. It is a powerful and thought-provoking film, with a message of hope in adversity.
